HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

My first documentary project was a chance for me to learn more about my own lifestyle choices, and encourage young people like myself to take care of their bodies and their minds by adopting healthy habits. There is no set definition of a healthy lifestyle, which gave me the freedom to tell my own story, and discover the stories of my subjects.

PROJECT PITCH

RESEARCH

My research was one of my favourite stages of this project. My self-directed study ensured that I was able to inform my audience correctly, and it needed to be thorough due to the factual genre and it's direct affect on viewers.

I wanted to explore a range of different diets to cater to a large variety of my audience, and undertook intensive research into both positive and negative effects of exercise, which equipped me to interview my first subject, who discusses her battle with exercise.

I wanted to tell the best story possible, and by researching 3 different healthy habits, I was able to provide something for each of my viewers.

INTERVIEW PLANNING

My interview planning ensured that I explored multiple methods of interview practice, and I was able to make a well-informed decision on the style that would work best for each of my interviews. It was interesting to see the information that each type of interview gathered, and which styles felt the most comfortable on screen.

RISK ASSESSMENT

SITE CHECKS

Health and safety was also a very important aspect of my production. Given the activities demonstrated, such as food preparation and exercise, I wanted to ensure that each location was suitable, and calculate the potential risks involved. My risk assessments and site checks ensured that process of each demonstration and activity was throughly planned and safely executed.
